Duty on Goods Imported From Down Under
Permalink Closed

Someone in Australia on a Facebook group I belong to has asked this question:

I am quoting on a sale for 20 custom snow globes to a big company in the UK (yes, I'm excited!) I need to hit a total value of £1835 including duty...but calculating what percentage the duty would be is proving REALLY difficult. Any knowledgable Brits willing to provide some much needed advice? Essentially I need to know what the total value would be before duty is applied...thanks in advance you helpful wonderful people!

This is a subject I've always avoided like the plague, and after my long break I wouldn't know where to find out now, except by asking the knowledgeable people here smile. Can anyone help?

Hi John

I would still avoid it like the plague.

I have had a little to do with US imports, and the whole process is a nightmare.

Is the simple version but when you start looking at the tables to find the commodity code, it starts to get complicated
