VT export data to Sage
Permalink Closed

Is it possible to export data from VT cashbook to Sage? I have a new client who was encouraged to use VT by his accountant but they are no longer wanting to carry on the relationship so the client has come to me. My preferred software is Sage so I want to move him over can the data be moved easily? if not I will recreate in Sage manually which seem a bad use of time.

Thanks

Is it the best software for the client?

personally I spend all my time moving clients from Sage to VT but generally end up losing history in the process. I make that clear to clients before I begin the process.

Have you thought about learning VT rather than attempting to move the client from it espechially if it is something that they are very happy with?

I note that you mention VT Cashbook rather than VT transaction+ so I assume that the client has been entering their own transactions which I assume is something that they are happy doing.

Why not Give VT a two month free trial. The only risk that you run is that you may well end up looking at moving all of your other clients from Sage to VT.

Thanks for the reply. The client doesn't like the VT software, they have been entering receipts themsevles but have made quite a few mistakes / errors and they don't want to do it any more. I want to use Sage because I like it and I have a licence I'm not using so it seems daft not to use it.

I've just had a quick look, and you could possibly copy all the transactions from the VT Spreadsheet View into a spreadsheet, and change it around to create an import CSV file for Sage. It's the sort of thing I did loads of times in my Sage days, and would probably be quite quick and straightforward if they've only been using VT Cashbook. I think you might need VT Transaction + to do it, but you can use it for 60 days FOC.
