Right, sure that your all fed up to the back teeth of being called from India by people who generally open with lines like "can you just confirm your email address for us" or "Can you confirm when your utility bills are due for renewal".

Just confirm... As if they have any information before you give them any.

I had one today who got so incensed at the being told that I wasn't interested and putting the phone down before she was even two words into her sales blurb that she phoned back... Twice... Second time telling me not to be so rude!

I genuinely think that people in Indian call centres are sold the lie that we want for them to call us.

You try to be nice and say "thanks but I'm not interested" or "sorry I don't take unsolicited sales calls" but they persist regardless which all that does is put their company on the list that you would never in a thousand years do business with.

If everyone adopted the stance of never doing business with any company that cold calls you then I'm sure that we would soon stop being bothered by cold callers... Although, after saying that there's a girl with a really sexy Welsh accent who calls me up every three months that I have a flirt with. In her case I don't buy anything cos if I did she would stop calling me... Maybe if I gave her a job...No, no, lets not go there. That way wedding cake lies.

Anyway, I digress.

Just to get the ball rolling here are a few current (withinin past 24 hours) numbers not to pick :

101

10101

4410101

37199999999

Feel free to add your own entries to the thread of numbers that you're being hassled with.

I get too much rage I don't get a chance to play with them.

I felt really sorry for one girl that caught me when I snapped. Market Research. Told her I was getting sick and tired from the constant calls from her company and could she remove my number from their database. They won't but I just felt better knowing that they knew I'd had enough.

Then this afternoon. I heard the accent so I knew what the call was going to be about. So I thought I'd say to them - "don't tell me - I've got a computer virus". When said out loud it makes sense but written down "don't tell me" is an absurd thing to say. Anyway - "no you don't have a virus, but three or four of your files are leaking information." I told them to go away. But being polite I said cheerio, although I was putting the phone down so was not listening to hear if they said cheerio back to me. They didn't, as the phone was making its way back to the base I could hear him still rambling on about leaking computer files.

And I thought she was devoted to me, tut.

Its for access to a website to both check out clients and find new clients by market sector. Seems like a good site if you need it and she's always got a deal up her sleeve to tempt you with.

Maybe if the overseas call centres took a leaf from their book and only employed fun people with appealing accents selling things that we can see a point to then we would be more willing to listen.

Then again, I suppose what appeals to one person won't necessarily appeal to the next. Pretty sure though that stroppy Indians who think that they're doing you a favour by calling you several times an hour should be bottom of my places in the world to think about putting a call centre (or helpdesk) no matter how cheap they are.

Just thought, if Big Nev reads this he's gonna be made up isn't he. lol.

I like to put the phone next to the TV with eastenders or something on, costs me nothing AND they get a conversation - win/win

I am fed up with people calling saying I have had a car accident in the last ten years and I am entitled to compensation! Touch wood my last car accident was over 20 years ago so they are barking up the wrong tree with me.

When they ask for me by name then I always say 'who is calling please' as if Im not her, then go on to say 'oh - but you are phoning a business'....that usually stops them in their tracks then I get 'sorry' and 'I will take this number off our mailing list' and then silence - pure bliss! Mind you now I have let my secret out and you all start using it then they will be less likely to believe me - oops!

Got one today trying to sell me gas and electric.  Said I had spoke to one of their colleagues a few months ago and had informed them that my contract was ending "in the next few months"  I politely informed him that had I spoke to his colleague a few months ago I would have informed him that the gas and electric is in with the rent, and is paid for by the Landlord.  This "colleague" apparently doesn't work there any more!

Anyone who calls me to sell me gas, electric, telephone or broadband I tell I am also a utility broker. Gets rid of them quicker than an English batsman at Edgbaston!
