First Payroll- Confused
Permalink Closed

Hi,

Im trying to do an RTI submission. But I think the credentials may be wrong :(

The previous bookkeepers have given me the HMRC login details they had, which is for VAT- is it the same log in details for PAYE? The previous bookkeeper said they used their own software (So am I!!)

What are these log in details I need?

Thanks

Stuart

You can add payroll onto the vat log on but if you won't be able to use the log in until you get the activation code

Can I use my agent code, even if they haven't authorised me too? (as in approved through HMRC)

I've logged off so can't check it, but I'm fairly sure my software only let's you put one gov gateway code in so it's got my agent one. I also recall some facility online via HMRCs website so accountants could file PAYE info using their agents code for non agent clients, although they couldn't obviously access their customers records at HMRC.

You can use your agent code without authorisation I have done it a number of times. That's not to say that you shouldn't get authorisation asap, as you should always do this.
