Well done to all the winners and finalists of the ICB Luca Bookkeeping awards which were held at the BAFTA'S last night. Delighted to find out Training Link won the ICB Training Provider Of The Year award for the 3rd year running and their student Clare Mannall won the Student Of The Year award.

Hi Nick and thank you, hope you are enjoying your new job and have settled in? I did not attend as I had my right hip replaced and couldn't make it, the ICB have not updated their website as of yet but if you go to the ICB home page and view their latest tweets you will find all the winners on there.

All the best Dave

Unless, I miss read the tweets - TL won Large Training Provider of the year and someone else won Small Training Provider of the year.

How on earth is this measured ? The mind boggles !!!

Hi Trevor

Good to hear from you and I trust you are well. I am not the ICB but I am happy to give you my take on this but please don't take this as gospel it is just my opinion. ICB introduced the small training provider award last year and I believe this to be because of the following: The training provider award is based on many things which include:

1. New Student Registrations
2. Exam Pass Rates
3. Returning Students
4. Secret Shopper Results
5. The amount of customer complaints
6. Students who go on to become members and start a practice

Now lets say a large training provider like Training Link, Ideal Schools and the like register through the course of a year 800 students and 60% of these students gain high pass marks, return for more courses and or become full members, this means the ICB gain 480 new members.

Smaller providers like Open Study College will perhaps register 300 students over the course of a year and may have similar percentages of success but because of volume they cannot compete with the larger providers and therefore could not win the Training Provider of the Year award, because of this the ICB introduced the small provider award so that they can be recognised for their contribution. I personally think this was a great idea by the ICB and gives the smaller provider the opportunity to be recognised, there are more smaller provider than large.

This is how I perceive it to be but again I am not the ICB and is just my theory, but that's does not mean I could be way off the mark. The numbers I have described are not accurate but helped to explain my theory. To get a full and accurate explanation on this you could call the ICB and ask them to explain this but I feel I am not too far off the mark.

All the best
Dave

If you had met me Michelle you would have seen a bloke who walked normally (more or less) and no way would you think I needed a hip replacement, I am a renowned coward when it comes to hospitals and had already walked out of hospital in April as I bottled it telling people the op was cancelled, my consultant told me that unless I had the operation I would probably not be walking in a couple of years time (both hips) as I have a degenerative condition, even though I had seen the MRI scans I still found it hard to believe but wasn't prepared to take the chance so had the op on 16th Oct and I have never been in so much pain, down in the dumps, drowsy with pain killers and unable to do the most basic of things, so jury is out as to whether I think it was worth it, and I still have to have my left one done in another few months, and of course after 10 to 15 years they have to be replaced. At only 50 I dread to think what I will be like when I am 70 lol and I used to be so fit and sporty.

The upshot is though you can never keep a good man down and I thank the lord for my sense of humour as I can laugh at myself, but I have milked the sympathy just like a good bloke should and next month I will be dying of man flu, which you ladies have no concept of lol,

YOU DID ASK
Finally I hope this has taught you a valuable life lesson, disbelief NEVER EVER ASK A MAN HOW HE IS WHEN IT COMES TO HEALTH ISSUESdisbelief lmao as no species suffer like the human male and as such you got chapter and verse, ask a woman the same question the short reply would have been assured LOL

Thanks for asking biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

My wife used to work in the Physio Department of the local hospital and the thing she ALWAYS SAYS - do all the exercises you are given if you want to recover and get full movement. There are thousands of people that never do what the physios say and really regret it.

Awww thank you for your kind messages you beautiful people, didn't mean to turn this thread to be about me so please forgive me for that. My Physio begins on 12th Dec and Amanda I will be learning how to do the hippy hippy shake which I will teach you at this years Christmas party lol.

Joanne I am afraid I will be on my own this year as my girlfriend of last year suffered from human combustion after eating so many chocs but there still hope for me as I am a member of this new dating site for the blind, yes I know I am not blind but they don't know that do they lol? I can feel a Lionel Ritchie song coming on lol, Hello biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

God Bless you all
Dave xx
