I have an old version of TAS Books 2 which is now becoming corrupt and it is time to change. I use Sage with the majority of clients (their choice not mine) but I want something simple and cost effective that I can use for several clients without spending a fortune and am considering purchasing Money Manager from Moneysoft. I have used the payroll for years and cannot fault it, absolutely brilliant but just wondered if anyone had any good or bad comments on the accounts package.
As I still want to use their Final Accounts I'm still on v6 and have used it for 22 years so know most things about it. Never really got the hang of their budgeting function.
There are a couple of threads where i've said similar to the above and a bit more on here but give it a trial and let me know if you're stuck.
I have downloaded the trial version but I am concerned that no final accounts available so may not suit my requirements. After sifting this site and the web has anyone any comments on VT
There is final accounts available it's just an old version. I was worried only last week that it had fallen out with my Windows 7 but downloaded it again and it was fine.
If you have one or two Ltd Co's and you're going to learn new software then definitely go for VT.
Shaun will be along in a mo to sing the high praises of VT but it really is a nice bit of kit. I would genuinely struggle to find anything better. Mistakes are very easy to correct and, unlike Sage, things like Journals can be corrected in an instant.
The final accounts package is ok too, although I've only ever tested the trial version (60 days) . It's based on excel and you can import a VT file or put figures in direct.
I have just come across this thread as I have being using moneysoft with the final accounts for many years but have just got a new laptop. I thought it would be a very simple procedure to download the software on the new computer but to my horror there is no final accounts and the old version that I have been working with is not compatible with windows 10.
I am in complete meltdown and I wondered if anyone in the same position had any recommendations. Obviously I could download the new version 7 and transfer all my files but I would be lost without the final accounts.
Aaarhhh

That is the trouble with upgrading hardware. Most past software doesn't work anymore.
I originally stopped using Moneysoft final accounts about 4 PC's upgrades back and initially went to VT then "Cloud based".
Now I use a mixture of VT and cloud based options. There are actually some free (wavesapps.com) ones and free/cheap: quickfile.co.uk - who also have a Accountant/Book-keeper option (called affinity)which you can charge clients for
Depending on the client, the type of business and if they are prepared to pay or not, makes the decision which software option I suggest they try and then they decide which one to keep.
I keep coming across people who use Windows on a Mac. It seems they can put whatever version of Windows they like on there. I wonder does something like Parallels exist for windows where you could continue to run legacy software on a legacy Windows OS on a machine with the latest hardware and the latest (hard to keep off your machine) Windows OS?
