One of my client's has spent some money on cycle clothing that has been logo'd front and back with his Company name. The guy is a keen cyclist, I was already aware of that, so would the clothing be an allowed business expense, ie promotion, or would it be classed as not wholly business use?

Ask in a year or two if it was money well spent and he may tell you the tax position. 'No, I was just having a freebie off the taxman'. lol
lol Tim.
On the bright side though, when your stuck behind him in the car or nearly mown down by him when crossing a zebra crossing / on a red light against the cyclist at least you would now know who to report / not do business with.
Somehow cyclists wearing company motifs seems to petrol heads like me an anti promotion.
Did you see the Top Gear advertising for cyclists?

oops, not claimable then
Have to say though, I do between 15 - 20k a year driving and I've never had an issue with a cyclist that I can recall (apart from one idiot who shot out of an alleyway right across my back window as I was reversing)
As a real reply, if the clothing has a company motif that is displayed prominantly then I would drop it to advertising but tell the client that it is borderline acceptable so that they don't go out and spend too much on that sort of expenditure.
Actually, my main issue with cyclists has been on the footpath rather than the road... No, I wasn't driving on the footpath (keeps death of the road anyway), I mean where you are walking down the street or across the road on a pedestrian crossing and some numpty cycle courier nearly takes you out weaving at speed through the pedestrians.
Should be quite legal to just knock them off their bikes (with extreme prejudice) when they do that. Pretty sure that the decent cyclists out there would actually support that sentiment as they give all of them a bad name.

Has anyone ever seen that video where the guy, in the back of a car (with his mates, driving along) opens the door on a cyclist, and leans out to look back and laugh.. and then the door hits a parked car? Its not funny but it really is.. karma at its best!
