Paypal - help pleasssse

Hello
I used to get a transaction report from a client's paypal that showed gross, fee and net for his sales.  Now he is telling me that paypal have changed their processes and he cant get it any more.

What I really need is something showing gross, net, fees and what has actually been sold because some of his sales are vatable and some are not.  Can anyone suggest anything that can be pulled from paypal?

Also if anyone has paypal access for a client can they please tell me the exact name of the report and how to get it (an idiots guide please because I am being driven nuts by him!!)

Thanks

Joanne,

On the Transactions page I select [Download] and it takes me to a Download History page giving me date range and file type options. I generally choose Comma or Tab Delimited - Balance Affecting Payments. I haven't edited the columns it returns which are:

Date
Time
Time Zone
Name
Type
Status
Currency
Gross
Fee
Net
From Email Address
To Email Address
Transaction ID
Counterparty Status
Postal Address
Address Status
Item Title
Item ID
Postage and Packaging Amount
Insurance Amount
VAT
Option 1 Name
Option 1 Value
Option 2 Name
Option 2 Value
Auction Site
Buyer ID
Item URL
Closing Date
Reference Txn ID
Invoice Number
Custom Number
Receipt ID
Balance
Contact Phone Number

I find this sufficient for my needs.

Regards,

Jo, you could ask him to set you up with an admin log in, which will allow you to get reports but not see any financials etc

Classic view is bottom left after you sign in, although its possible he has a personal account not a business account, and might not have the reports option any more.  All you can do is contact Paypal and ask them how you access that info

Hi Jo

If it's a personal paypal account, as Michelle says, it's classic view at the bottom left of the main screen.

If its a business account, there is a summary box on right hand side.  Tell him to click on all activity.  From here he should see download.  Click on that   He can then customise the date range and select download type (presumably you will want either tab delimited, comma delimited or pdf. all activity.

It will then download the transactions showing date, description, status, currency, gross, fee, net   is that what you're looking for?

Hi guys
I sent him instructions for all the above so hoping he does it. I've suggested before that he sets me up as admin because I have this problem with him every quarter with this and his Amazon account too. I spend hours chasing him. Not helped by a language barrier!! Once I have been paid this quarter there will be an email to himwith my rates going up quite substantially or I will probably dump and run.

Thanks for all your help, knew what he told me was a bit rubbish! Keeping my fingers crossed.
Jo))

Looks like the report has nearly enough data for even the VATMOSS mess!

I'm so glad I no longer have the internet shop on my list!

Good Luck Joanne!

Partial result - I know have some PDFs. If he can do the PDFs he can do the CSV!! Although he keeps ignoring my list of missing receipts (which are all online things so easy to find!), so perhaps not.

So you dont want this one off me then Theresa? I would never be that mean!

Thanks again all.

I suggested it several times - my next step is to work out out to get one and do him an idiots guide and see if that helps (I did an idiots guide on how to get the reports and that worked, after the 15th time of explaining it, up to a point). Dealing with different mentalities!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish I could. When I do see him its at a storage unit with no wifi and there is a major language barrier. He has asked me about 18 times how much he should pay his wife so they can get a mortgage in future (thats the kind of thing I get all the time). Been like this for almost 2 years and about at the end of my tether!

I would push for admin log in, or get printing those wretched PDFs.

There are PDF readers that can convert the files to something more usable... is it FoxIt that can convert using OCR to a windows format for editing - which means you can save as a csv...

Hi Joanne,

From personal experience I've discovered that all PDF conversion tools are not equal. I have no experience with FoxIt, it may well do the job you're looking for. However, if it doesn't, please don't conclude that it can't be done.

I came upon the one I use after I found that Adobe's own PDF converter couldn't do the job I wanted! I had thought that if Adobe themselves couldn't convert the document reliably no-one could. Not so. I'm glad I decided to try the free trial from Able2Extract because I've yet to come across a document that it won't deal with. I've recommended it to a couple of others who have had similar results too. A full licence is not free (circa $100) but if you need the job done, and if nothing else will do it, it's a reasonable amount to pay.

Regards,

Plus Im a complete technophobe so need a few minutes to spare to try it and am still hoping for my idiots guide (which Ive not yet sent) to sort the problem out.
