We are an ecommerce business within the UK which uses a lot of affiliate partners worldwide. Because of this, many times we need to set up customers as suppliers and vice versa. We began using Sage 50 but because we couldn't borrow the customer ledger to set up a Purchase Invoice it became very messy with contras etc. We moved over to VT Transaction + which supports this and it was a great call.
The problem we face now is our department has grown and we need the ability to allow several users to edit the system at the same time.
Would you guys be able to recommend a software suite that could cater to our needs? We're hitting 5M turnover (not sure if that's relevant!)

I am thinking of starting a new client with new business going back just over a month on Xero. It means hitting the ground running (which I could probably do via Sage), but a bit apprehensive using new s/w. Xero seems to be the best fit for the clients needs, but how intuitive is it??? Also, are you aware if the s/w can handle departments/cost centres?

It's going ok (I know what you mean about hitting the ground running in Sage though)
Slowly but surely getting there, don't think it will ever be my 1st choice but it is becoming a good number 2.
Intuitive depends on your definition of it From 'remembering' supplier/customer details it is good as it shares the contacts list
Not sure about departments/cost centres as I don't need them
The main issue I have with it is manual entry for purchase or sales invoices. It is a lot quicker in Sage. But that is offset by refreshing the bank feed so all of the bank entries are there for you, so possibly swings and roundabouts there
What I have started doing though, is I have paired this with Receipt Bank, which once it is set up automatically sync's all the purchase invoices across to Xero and that works really well

Your userid is called Ezybooks which is a sure sign that you are a software provider, not an actual user.
Businessman (lol) really doesn't give a shit about software. They're interested in running their business and the software is a necessary evil / overhead.
What businessman does like is Excel on their PC's. it's a sandpit in which they can play for many happy hours without the constrains of third party software off somewhere in the ether where once they have entered sufficient data into it for it to be any use they are trapped with it.
I'll leave this one for the baying wolf pack to get their teeth into and clear up the other spam.

oh, worry not, I was always here just didn't always log in for fear that I got sucked back into my old ways of not letting a thread pass by without some comment from me in it.
Still been plenty of deletions of these lil tikes who seek to push their wares.
The company that I work for has been acquired and I'm thinking that they're not going to want to keep paying me the big bucks so I'm fully expecting to be an imminent "synergy".... Quite new to be on the brunt of that rather than on the decision end of it!
Worrying thing is, it really doesn't take long on that side of the fence to lose track of whats occuring on the financial accounting side of the fence. No issue with accounts but my tax knowledge has gone fair to pittiful... But, I can make Excel spreadsheets do things that would make your eye's water so swings and roundabouts.
Seems as though your doing pretty well and growing nicely... Gizza job... lol.

I can only do the basics with excel, but I did get excited a few weeks ago when I did a pivot table for the first time.
I had a long list of paypal transactions and just needed the daily totals, and the pivot table did the job very nicely.
Hope everything works out for you and if I ever do become a conglomerate there would be a job for you here definitely, once you'd taken lessons in how to speak Yorkshire

It would be so easy to be back posting 30+ posts a day on here (Oh the good old days).
Only just really starting the search now as ended up working 14 hour days / 7 day weeks right up until the end... Give you a laugh here. The rest of my team went out to wish me well... I was too busy working to go with them! I missed my own leaving do!!! They all had a jolly good time though. No probs from me, they all fought tooth and nail to keep me but as always with a synergy the most expensive go first. At some stage the new owners will cotton on to why they were paying almost twice as much for me as they were for my managers manager. lol.
On the job front my boys now old enough that I'm back to not being restricted on travel so might even consider London or Edinburgh again if it gets me back into the serious sized corporates.

Talking of serious sized corporates, the very best and some of the biggest are actually in a little place just along from me, I should know......but we know you get into breathing difficulties on the west side of the country! There is also still Texas! Just fly via Japan and you will be ok.
