Subcontractor pay dates

Hi ,

How easy is it to change a sub contractor to fortnightly pay dates if they have been verified as monthly? And what is it I need to do?

You can pay a subbie as often as you want, but you still only submit monthly returns.  The info you need will be on the CIS300 under the CIS tab on moneysoft.

If you mean changing the pay frequency in Moneysoft, you can't!  You will have to put them in as a leaver then re-instate them the same day on fortnightly frequency - eek.  Never had to change pay frequency on MS but I did with 12pay and it was way easier than that.

Hi I didn't think you told HMRC how often they would be paid, when they are verified.

Customers can pay subbies pay them whenever they want as John says, but I just do their reports and payslips on Moneysoft once a month...you can add the invoice numbers so they can cross reference everything. Work in everything up to 5th of each month and report by 19th.

Hi Guys

I spoke to HMRC just to confirm and yes you are right they don't need to know. I,ve changed the pay period in Moneysoft to forfnightly and all is ok, so client now happy.

Sorry Guys, got another question ...

Can you submit the monthly cis return before the 6th of the month, or does it have to be between 6th - 19th ?

Hi Ive just checked Moneysoft and it will let you produce a report and there is an option to send it but obviously Ive not tried that. BUT my thinking is that you shouldnt - what if they decide to pay someone on 5th unexpectedly - you really should get them to sign the form on 6th at the earliest so you know you have everything.
