Save me wasting a whole day on the phone to HMRC if an employee had a tax code of 0T M1 at April 5th, do I just give him the generic code of 1060L this year.
The website is very confusing as I know I take them off of M1, but it states to bring the their code through to this year.
Stupid question I know but I thought as it was start of a new tax year he would go on the normal code?
Have you not had a change of tax code notification for them, either through your agent login in, client login or via your payroll software? If not then you can only change certain codes. OT is no tax allowance, so they may not be entitled to one again this year, so you giving then £10k+ will skew it in their favour and HMRC wouldn't like that very much. Leave as is.....HMRC will notify you if it needs changing.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
Thank you I will ask the employee if he has had anything through but I have not had any notification, but appreciate you getting back as don't want to upset HMRC š
