Supplier refund banked as cash (Sage)
Permalink Closed

Hi,

I'm really hoping someone can offer a simple solution to correct an error, my mind is going round in circles.  Basically we received a cheque from a supplier which was banked along with the cash takings and has been entered into sage as cash takings, transferred from petty cash into the bank and reconciled at the end of the month. I'm unsure the best way to show this is not takings and apply to the supplier account.  Should I transfer the amount from the bank account back to petty cash and then enter the supplier refund using the wizard? I can't decide if I'm making this more complicated than it should be, but would really appreciate any advice!

Many thanks

Hi Donna
I would do as you suggested.

What I used to do, when I was learning sage, if I ever get anything like this that you havent tried before I would do a backup then try the transaction as then if it isnt right do a restore.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Thanks, I really think I made it out to be more tricky that it should be. Basic stuff but my head feels like it's full of cotton wool and I wasn't sure if I was missing something obvious - it's great to have a bit of reassurance!
