Sage upgrade

Hi

Im moving one company file from sage 50 version 12, 2008 I think, to sage Pro 50 version 21, 2015 -  just wanted to know is there anything I need to do/look out for before I do or can I just do it via a 'restore'?

Hi Joanne,

You won't be able to do this with a simple restore. 2008 is a very early version, so I think it has to be passed through an interim version first, although I think Sage offer an upgrade service (i.e. you send them a backup and they return it as a v 21 backup). Although there are people over on the Sage Forum who also offer this service, probably at half the price!!

Also I think somewhere along the line Sage changed the file extension of their templates from .sly to .layout, so you need to be careful here as well.

Sorry not a huge help!

Hi Pauline
Oh beggar - I knew this one wouldnt be straight forward (is anything?!). I had the same issue with an old version of Quickbooks that needed an upgrade. I think my sage is even .srd rather than .sly (I need to check that!). Im guessing then that the Sage service isnt part of the 45 days free cover - yer right, sage doing something for free!!! Thanks for the sage forum suggestions though - might be worth a punt, but also - happy to get quotes from the usual crowd on here if you want to PM me. (Might be a while before I get back to you as Im out a lot this week).

Youve been a huge help Pauline as you stopped me trying it myself and most likely causing more mayhem, so thanks.

Hi Joanne,

No problem.  I doubt whether this is covered under the 45 days free cover, but who knows, will be worth asking    Hope you get it sorted....you're right, nothing with Sage is straightforward...ha ha!
