not sure if this has come up before (more than likely has mind)

Dairy / Filofax / electronic device

Which do you guys prefer or have found is better than the other?

I ask as I'm an Apple product guy and have my iPad linked to my Laptop so appointments etc... Are auto populated on to my iPad or Outlook so I was thinking of using my iPad to track appointments and meetings.

However I thought I would consult the forum members as with everything on this forum the more feedback you get from others the more informed your decisions are. Plus your experience could highlight some key item I have overlooked by considering my iPad and not the conventional paper method.

Do whatever suits you best. What works for some won't for others. Sometimes you have to learn by your own mistakes. Plus you will probably change and adapt systems and processes as you go.

Horses for courses.

Generally A4 desk diary with a to do list for the day / week.

I use my old filofax as address books.

Serious planning for specific projects I use Excel.

If I need to keep a plan in mind I copy the excel spreadsheet to paint, save it as a jpeg and then set it as the screen saver so I have a constant schedule reminder

"Dairy / Filofax / electronic device"

What Joanne said - diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, because the world don't move to the beat of just one drum; What might be right for one, may not be right for some.

To throw another combo into the examples mix:

I have a wall planner above the desk on which I write a quick one word note to indicate the main appointments or jobs for each day; no real details such as time etc. That gets saved for...

I also use the calendar app in my phone. I don't put everything in there - a couple of clients are weekly jobs where a specific day is allocated to a specific client; those don't get entered. I just enter exceptional items - additional appointments, regulars rescheduled, etc.

That way, when I'm out and about, if someone contacts me to arrange a meeting, I'm covered. If they want it on a Monday (for example) I already know I'll be at Joe Bloggs & Co, and I can arrange things around that (or even shift it) if necessary, and the changes can be entered.

I use the calendar app on my phone, as its always with me, and electronic post it notes on my desktop.

At one time I used to use essential PIM, as it's supposed to synch between android and windows, but it was a faff as you had to synch manually, via web remote something or other

To be honest Phil, I really should be using Google Calendar for the reasons you give, it's just been laziness on my part. Chrome on the desktop is synched to an old business email which i don't want to change because it's got all sorts of saved stuff on it, whereas Google on my phone is linked to my personal email address. I really need to get it so my phone Google Calendar matched the windows one, and start using both.
