Filling out my first ever P11d, and am I right that the Car benefit charge, calculated on HMRC website, is the figure that goes in the Cash Equivalent of Car box?

Hi there,

As an example, a car costing £25000 with & of 15% - would give an cash eq of £3750

Hope that helps

Thanks.

That is what I thought. I have found, though, that last years P11d completed by the previous bookkeeper is showing the same figure for List price in the cash equivalent box which is clearly incorrect. How do I now correct it a year later? I assume this means the Director, whose car benefit it is, has most likely paid too much tax if he was paying it on a much larger figure.

I would probably check his tax code and check with HMRC. Are you an agent for PAYE?

Could be quite a difference...
