Deleting a bank receipt
Permalink Closed

Hi hope someone can help

I am trying to delete a bank receipt I posted to a nominal account. When I try to delete it via transactions I am getting a message saying This account is the default bank account, it cannot be deleted. When I try through corrections there is no delete selection

I am guessing that you are talking about Sage software. If so you need to reverse the transaction (as in pay out the amount received) and then post correctly. Bank transactions and journals in Sage cannot be deleted or amended. Hope that helps.

I think Sage have finally seen sense and in the next edition of the software you will be able to edit journals.

You can reverse journals though - I've been reversing bank transfers.

hi Sammy
I wasn't aware of this....how do you and what version of sage? I thought the 'reverse bank transfers' was just a transfer the other way.

Peasie.....2015 version of sage has option to reverse journals but as far as I know only when you are creating the original journals and only if you select that as an option in the tools section. (But I've jot yet found all the newbie bits on this version yet, so not sure about editing them)

Janet - I agree with Gordon's suggestion. Don't use journals as they aren't picked up in a bank rec.

New Sage 50 Accounts v22, August 2015

Improved error corrections

Your clients make mistakes with their accounts, with Sage 50 Accounts it gives you the ability to quickly edit or delete journal entries removing the need to start again.
