P11D error

I think I have made a big mistake when submitting P11Ds for a client in July.

I now know that where the car was available for the whole of the tax year I should have

left the available from and to boxes empty, but in fact I entered 06/04/2014 in the available

from and 05/04/2015 in the available to box.

I think that because of this, at least 2 (that I know of) employees have had their tax codes

changed to read as if they dont have company cars.

Im wondering what's the best way to rectify this - should I send in a P46(Car)with

the car as being available from 06/04/2015 in each case.

Would this work ?

I would be tempted to write to HMRC with a list of all employees concerned and maybe a copy of the P11D, explain your mistake and ask them to amend the records

There would be no harm in submitting the P46 (Car) as you say, and write a letter explaining what happened and what you have done.

Going by the way HMRC now work, it may be months before they read your letter and do anything. (In May 2015, I received a reply to my letter of July 2014, about a old payroll query!) Doing both will cover your back and attempt to correct it quicker.

Thanks for the responses, i have submitted the P46 (Car)s and will write to HMRC explaining what
I have done.

Which address should I send it to ? I'm thinking this one :
Pay As You Earn and Self Assessment
HM Revenue and Customs BX9 1AS

Would anyone agree ?
