Just had someone phone me looking for a cheaper price for her payroll.

she has 9 employees some full time and some part time, done on a weekly basis.

Could anyone give me any info how they would charge for this

Two ways, you could have a fixed price per payslip and x that by 9 or work out roughly the time involved.  I actually have a client with 9 weekly payslips (you're not nicking her are you? biggrinbiggrin) and it takes me roughly 15/20 minutes, but all payslips are sent enbloc to the client, by email.

If you were sending them to individual email addresses this might take longer.

Also take into account the new auto enrolment requirements.  It would be worth checking their staging date and if it's within the next year, advising that prices will increase at that time.  Although I haven't formulated any prices for that yet, I would be expecting at least a 50% increase.

Hi Jill
I would also be asking what the staff turnover is like so you can build in having to add new staff/produce P45s. I bump up the pricing for eg Cafes - constantly changing staff (most of them) and the fact that is weekly payroll - given the RTI position (as you are more tied to this), also when do you get the information to process the payroll, eg if its only the night before then I wouldnt even take it on, if they are paid a week in arrears and you get it as soon as they have finished their week then thats more manageable in terms of your time.

Some software allows you to do one email which sends payslips to all staff ( individually of course) such as 12 Pay - Ive used that functionality before, but I havent tried it on Moneysoft, would be surprised if it didnt allow for it.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
