Removing a company from HMRC basic tools software

Hey lovelies!

Does anyone know how to delete a company in Basic Tools?? I had a client who was a nigtmare with his wages, so I asked him to go to an established payroll firm (you know PAYE isn't my area!)... I sent the payroll bureau the mid year figures, but when I try to delete the company, it says I cannot delete because employer and employee records still exist.  So then I try to delete an employee and it wont let me because I've not submitted the final submission, given them a P45 etc?

I've also got a company that ceased mid year due to the director getting a job.. I have processed the P45, the final submission and there's a big red CEASED next to the company name - but I cant see how to delete them.  There is no Delete employer option in the company details section

Hello!

Did you ever find out how to do this? I have just taken over a payroll from another bookkeeper and the backup has come with several other companies and I keep getting messages about actions needed for these companies - but they are nothing to do with me

Many thanks

B

Ah, the lovely Michelle (OP).  Had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of times in Manchester at AAT seminars.  Very down to earth lady with a great personality.

going by the messages you get when starting PAYE Basic I do not think you can remove an employer at all. I have one like that myself

google shows there was a hint that such functionality may be forthcoming, but it does not appear to have ever happened.
