Beginning book-keeper with no UK degree.

Dear colleagues (hope soon we will be...)

I'm russian and live in UK. I have russian 5 years University degree in accounting analysis and auditing. I have a little (very little) accounting experience in Russia. Now I'm thinking about getting certified and work as accountant here in UK. As I found out on NARIC.org my diploma could be recognized as 4-5 years of UK University. I think about self employment because need to work from home.

My weak points are no experience, age (I'm a bit "old" for a beginner ), no UK education...cry

Do you think it is possible at all?

What should I begin with? What kind of certificate do I need? Can I begin to work on my own if never worked an employee?

I will be grateful for any advise or information! smile
