Can I include? Got two slightly conflicting bits of info. One says that the full cost of hire can be included when doing a private percentage split but the other says if using mileage allowance then can't be claimed. If it's ok in the first instance why not in the second instance?

When I have clients who normally claims mileage, and then they need to hire a car, I just ask them to provide mileage for that car, as presumably the hire car is to cover their personal car being off the road?
However, if they hired a van for business purpose, say for moving office etc, I would allow that on top of car mileage
"One says that the full cost of hire can be included when doing a private percentage split"
but the other says
"if using mileage allowance then can't be claimed."
That reads to me like car costs vs mileage - so if you were a sole trader, and was including car costs less PU - include hire within that figure. And if using mileage, do not include hire.
I think its me being thick!! On apportionment I read it as being able to claim the full cost of hire, rather than the apportioned cost. Your clarification makes perfect sense
Thanks
