As long as you have the time to do it, I would go inhouse. Should take no more than an hour, absolute tops.
Payroll software I would heartily recommend is Moneysoft. Will cost you £150 which is £12 a month. (Multiple companies unlike sage) Its piddle easy to use and there's help available on this forum if you get stuck. Moneysoft also have a telephone support system freely available to all users (unlike sage)
Check your client's staging date for auto enrolment, and adjust the price for when that happens. I'm surmising that it will increase my time spent by 50%.
You'll also need to gen yourself up on AE (stacks of info on the pension regulators website) and do the preparation work. At the moment that will be a fixed fee of £150 to my clients but I've yet to finalise that figure.

I would do it in house if you have got the time, it can be another service you offer.
I am seriously thinking of changing to Moneysoft from 12Pay. I have been happy with 12Pay until Iris took them over (sorry Tom), now I can't ever get through on the phone, its always an answer machine and sometimes I just don't have the time available to wait for them to get back to me, especially if I am out of the office the following day, as they say they will phone back within 24 hours.
I only do monthly payroll as I don't want the commitment of being in every week to do weekly one.
Auto Enrolment will be priced separately when it happens!
It depends on what you want, really? I do "easy, same figure per month" PAYE (usually owner directors, who I do accounts for). I avoid anything that's weekly or gets too messy, as I just don't have time to faff about. It works for me, because I know my value is better placed, and I hate PAYE! So I would advise to think about what the job really entails, how much its going to make you, and, what you could be making if you weren't doing it. If, like me, you work on your own, you have to be savvy with your time. I would outsourced something like that, but for you it might be that in house is better... weigh it up.
