is it valid VAT invoice

HI All

A locksmith came to our office to put three number locks  and raised an invoice on a preprinted paper showing VAT reg number and company name and address . but he only put a total amount including VAT.

Can I claim VAT back on this invoice?

Hi Grace,

Yes you can, as long as there is a VAT reg. number on receipt. Many trades give you just an invoice with gross figure.

Hi Grace
Have a look at this for simplified VAT invoices for retail supplies....www.gov.uk/vat-record-keeping/vat-invoices

Take great care though - you need to ensure that the item contained with the item is eligible to have VAT on it. Number locks do, but not all supplies will attract VAT.
