Company name on invoice?
Permalink Closed

Hi All

I have an invoice from a supplier . but when I arrange payment, I notice that the supplier's bank detail is another company name which is different from the name on the invoice.

is it normal practice?

Thanks in advance!

How are you able to check what account name is on their Bank account?

Has the company changed names (check co house), or is it a trading name?

If it's a completed unrelated company then it could be attempt at fraud or money laundering.

Query it as you need to find out more.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

I have received a email showing the bank details with different account name

No , the company has not change names . the company on the invoice is its trading name.

i think that it is related company. but why can the supplier just give me different account name for payment .(  not the company trading name)

The invoice should be from the supplier of the product or service and the payment of that invoice should be to a Bank account in the same name. You will need to go back to the and ask for correct Bank details.

Grace, I would ring the supplier on a recognised number (not from the email) and confirm the details.

there is a scam operating where emails are intercepted and bank details changed, or an email issued regarding a change of bank details.
