Hi

I have read a Book regarding Bookkeeping & Accounting. It says that Bookkeepers use Cash Basis and Accountants use Accrual basis.

seems to me that it is not quite right.

what is your oppinion regarding this?

        Kind regards

As Shaun said, you need to get a better book - so take this one back to the shop and point out you were looking for non-fiction.

Though, personally, I never knew there was a "Bookkeeping and Accounting" genre in fiction. I bet there are some truly gripping novels out there.

Hi Grace
I thought you were doing CIMA - does your training provider not produce good information? Who are you training with?

There was a post on here recently which listed some excellent books - have a look at this one www.book-keepers.org.uk/t61387866/bank-reconciliation-layout-start-with-cashbook-balance-and-f/

Edited for improper use of lower case in Grace's name!

They usually provide some really good training notes and text books, although the odd question has the complete wrong answer - not sure if its to test you or if they just have rubbish proof readers. Often when you login to 'My Kaplan' they provide a list of amendments for the text books, if you log your text book on the system - then you can go through and manually amend it, although it is down to someone reporting the errors so it still doesnt catch all of them!

How far are you with the CIMA studies?

Hi everyone it has been a while since I have been by. I'm taking a break from doing a VAT & ECSL VAT return listing to the rain....

The IAB sell really good books in the shop on their website on Book-keeping, and Accounting too. They only have 7 on offer, but most people will not need all of them.

They also have a amazon store if you want a electronic version.

I wonder if the writer thinks that bookkeepers only use Online accounting packages, and only process direct from bank feeds instead of from paperwork?

A really good book for bookkeeping is Book-Keeping and Accounts by Frank Wood and Sheila Robinson. Not cheap - and last one I think was published in 2013 because Frank Wood died, but it explains all elements of bookkeeping in easy steps and very informative chapters.
