I've got an issue with Sage, and I wonder if anyone can help?
We've just got an updated sage data file back from our accountant, and have just installed it & keep getting the following error:
"This data was last used with a later version of Sage Accounts. You must update this version of Sage Accounts before accessing the data. Would you like to check for updates now?"
When I press yes, it tries to update, but just come back saying no new up-dates. Is there anyway to cure this issue?
It's probably a major version upgrade, rather than a minor version.
The latter would be covered by it checking with Sage's update server and downloading an update - but the former would require that you purchase a new version.
To confirm, check the version your accountant is using against the version you are using - start with the 'title' for the respective versions. For example, if you're using Sage Instant Accounts 2014 and the accountant is using Sage Instant Accounts 2015, you'd need to upgrade to at least that version.

Vince- thanks for getting back to me .
It's saying we have 20.0.9.320, but the file was updated on 20.4.9.346
So is the only way round this an upgrade?
Thanks
Roger
I understood Sage to use the first number as a major version number, so both being 20 suggests both are the same 'year' (2014, I think) - so at first glance I would have expected the auto-update to work.
Having said that, using a quad version number, a 0 - 4 jump in the second number could be a significant update as well.
There have been instances where an update is free, but has to be done manually - I used to have the link for a page on Sage's site where you could check the latest version and grab it in order to do so, but I don't have it to hand.
Do you have Sage Cover - if so, I'd be inclined to give them a call on this. (Unless someone else with either that link, and/or more details of Sage's version numbering is able to help...)

You could try re-naming the watermark.xml file in the parent folder for the ACCDATA folder where your data set is located and then logging into the data set in Sage.
Hopefully, Sage will re-create a working watermark.xml file for you.
