Apply for a PSA?
Permalink Closed

One of my clients gave a christmas gift to his employee to the value of £395.

I need to either declare this on a P11D which seems unfair to the employee or apply for a PAYE Settlement Agreement which seems overkill for one item.

Any ideas?

Hi Karen
Seems unfair in the face of it - but, just playing devils advocate for a moment- what if it had been an extra payment to the employees Bank payment - that wouldve had to have tax and NI taken off, so what is the difference?

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

I agree, it just seems harsh.  Was pretty sure there wasn't a way around it :(

Talking of unfair, when I worked in Corporate banking I had a diamond merchant client, who gave me a watch with diamond rounds the face as a thank you for helping him Christmas pressie......but I had to decline the gift!!!
