Whilst we're all relaxing and taking a few days off work (yeah right) I thought I might tax your brains a little. See how many you can get right without looking them up.
1. What was the first radio station in Britain to broadcast their output over the Internet.
2. Which Company set up in Britain as the American answer to Woolworths?
3. Tesco is an abbreviation of what?
4. How many ITV stations were there before they started amalgamating?
5. What was the original planned name for Coronation Street?
6. How many colours were available on the original Ford Model T?
7. What was the Prime Ministers name in 1980?
8. Why did Britain get involved in World War 2
9. Which is the only record that has appeared at 2 different positions in the Top 10, in the same week? A bonus point if you know the reason
10. What is the best selling single in UK chart history?
There is a trick question in there as well, and a bonus point if you spot it

"2. Which Company set up in Britain as the American answer to Woolworths?"
I had no idea Woolworths was a question, so why would we need to set up an answer to it?
"3. Tesco is an abbreviation of what?"
Is it? How on Earth can the four letter word 'what' be abbreviated to a five letter word, with only one letter shared between them? THAT MAKES NO SENSE!
"5. What was the original planned name for Coronation Street?"
Which one? Goole, Fairford, Trowbridge or Blackpool. There may be others.
"7. What was the Prime Ministers name in 1980?"
David Cameron.
"8. Why did Britain get involved in World War 2"
Well, to fully understand the answer to that, we need to go right back to the very beginning. Before it even.
Around 13 billion years ago, everything in the universe was packed into an incredibly dense state, a singularity of sorts - which resulted in a massive explosion that we now refer to as "the big bang". After this event, all that material began expanding outwards at very high speeds...
Actually, do you know what? It's probably too long a story.
"9. Which is the only record that has appeared at 2 different positions in the Top 10, in the same week? A bonus point if you know the reason"
I don't know the record - but the reason MUST be:
TIME TRAVEL!
Note: My answers might not be 100% entirely correct. Or serious.

1. What was the first radio station in Britain to broadcast their output over the Internet. No Idea
2. Which Company set up in Britain as the American answer to Woolworths? I thought Woolworths was an American company
3. Tesco is an abbreviation of what? It was one of his suppliers initials and the first two letters from the founder, Jack Cohens, surname
4. How many ITV stations were there before they started amalgamating? No idea
5. What was the original planned name for Coronation Street? I heard this on the radio the other day, but cant remember
6. How many colours were available on the original Ford Model T? "You can have any colour as long as it's black." One, Black.
7. What was the Prime Ministers name in 1980? Thatcher
8. Why did Britain get involved in World War 2 Cos it was too hard not to.
9. Which is the only record that has appeared at 2 different positions in the Top 10, in the same week? A bonus point if you know the reason Don't know
10. What is the best selling single in UK chart history? Don't know

2. Which Company set up in Britain as the American answer to Woolworths? I thought Woolworths was an American company
I read something the other day that prompted the question, but you're right. As such its a bit of an unfair question. The answer is British Home Stores, which was set up by some American Entrepreneurs, as a rival to Woolworths. Sorry about that
Q10 isn't Band Aid Johnny. In an indirect way, there's a connection with Marilyn Monroe.

No, it's the same recording. It's only happened twice in chart history but the second time the two entries weren't in the Top 10 until the sales were combined.
The second one was Leader of the Pack by Shangri Las, which was released on two different record labels. I think after the 3rd week sales were combined and the single went into the Top 10.
I'm probably going to give this away now but Q10 was a remake of a song by a British Artist. The original was about Marilyn Monroe but on the remake it was about someone else. Both versions were by the same artist.

I didn't know that. You learn something new every day.
Here are the answers, sorry if they were too difficult, I had expected more right answers.

1. What was the first radio station in Britain to broadcast their output over the Internet. Virgin Radio in March 1996
2. Which Company set up in Britain as the American answer to Woolworths? British Home Stores, although I phrased the question totally wrong.
3. Tesco is an abbreviation of what? Jack Cohen began trading on market stalls in 1919, after buying a quantity of tea from Thomas Edward Stockwell, he labelled them using his intials and the first two letters of his own surname, and Tesco was born.
4. How many ITV stations were there before they started amalgamating? 15, plus ITN, which was owned jointly by the 15 franchisees.
5. What was the original planned name for Coronation Street? Florizel Street, it was rejected after a cleaner at Granada pointed out it sounded like a disinfectant.
6. How many colours were available on the original Ford Model T? Just one, black. The quote you can have any colour as long as it's black is actually a misquote. The correct quotation is "Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants so long as it is black"
7. What was the Prime Ministers name in 1980? This was the trick question. The answer is David Cameron, as he has always been called David Cameron, even in 1980. When I first heard this, the answer was Tony Blair, and the year was 1960. I tried it on a mate once, after DC became Prime Minister. I said, what was the Prime Ministers name in 1960, and he said Harold MacMillan. I said no it was David Cameron. Can't have been, he replied, David Cameron wasn't born in 1960!!
8. Why did Britain get involved in World War 2? Again a badly worded question. The answer is because Germany invaded Poland, and we had threatened Germany that if they did, we would declare war.
9. Which is the only record that has appeared at 2 different positions in the Top 10, in the same week? A bonus point if you know the reason I actually got this question wrong, because I have just discovered it was Top 20, not Top 10. The answer is Je'Taime Moi Non Plus by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin. Released in 1969 it went to No. 2 but was withdrawn from sale due to it's suggestive sounds. Serge Gainsbourg arranged a deal with an independent label and it was rush released. On 4th October the old label was at No.16 and the new label at No. 3. The following week it went to No. 1 on the new label.
10. What is the best selling single in UK chart history? Candle in the Wind 1997 by Elton John. Elton John had originally released Candle In The Wind in 1974, a song about the Legendary Norma Jean Baker, aka Marilyn Monroe. After Princess Diana died in 1997, Elton sang the song at the funeral, changing the lyrics to "Goodbye English Rose". The song sold 4.92 million copies. Do They Know Its Christmas by Band Aid comes second selling 3.78 million.

Oh no, sorry. I was hoping you were going to give it a go, but it was slipping down the list and as you'd already made posts I wasn't expecting you to still.
Blame that pesky Johnny begging me for the answers lol. (In all honesty I'd not realised he'd asked until I posted the answers)
Never mind, I'll do another one for May Bank Holiday Weekend, and a) try and make the questions a bit easier, b) get the flipping questions phrased properly and c) give you chance to reply!!!
LOL Johnny re Q9
