Hello David,

welcome to the forum.

I wouldn't say this is so much a site to learn bookkeeping but rather to fix the bits that the professional bodies don't seem to realise that you need to know.

Do you want to give us a bit more detail about yourself?

Are you currently studying? If so, what professional body are you with? How far are you through your studies? Are you a career chager and if so what career do you come from?

People refer back to the first post to gauge the level that they need to pitch answers so the more info you give the better the responses will be.

Its become a site standard that people add their first name to their signature so that those answering questions seem a little more polite than using peoples userids.

Hope that you find what you are looking for here and look forwards to chatting soon.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

Hi
You indicated in your first post that you wanted to learn, so which course are you planning to do to help you achieve that? We can recommend a couple.

Does the family business have an Accountant?

Is it VAT registered? What sector? Do they just trade in the UK? Who does the payroll?

Please can you add your name to the signature bar, via editing your profile, as suggested already.
