Hi Everybody

I see a references to Portia. Is this referring to Portia from A Merchant of Venice or Portia of Our Chambers from Rumpole? I'm a big fan of both and am getting confuzzled.

Fripping emoticons won't work either meh!

Nice to see 'confuzzled' finally taking off at last. I was using it and variations in the 1990s.

Dunno about the answer to the question though. :)

Hi Parmi

As it was me that made the reference allow me to explain.  Portia is a lady from aweb who doesn't suffer fools gladly, to say the least!!

A couple of months ago someone asked what was the best salary/dividend split and got the reply £8060 salary.  The poster was duly slated because it depends on the circumstances of the Shareholder/Director involved.

For quite a while Portia would answer a daft question with just the reply £8060, which always made me chuckle, hence my comment.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
