Sage One Bank Reconciliation
Permalink Closed

Hello everyone, I am having a 'tear your hair out' moment with Sage One online software.

I reconciled our company credit card but some charges have gone through twice. When I try to edit or delete the duplicates, it says 'This entry or a previous version of it has cleared your bank account / been VAT reconciled. You can make limited changes only.'.

How do I get around this issue?

Thank you!

J

I don't use Sage One but it sounds like it's even more restrictive of corrections - which is arguably a good thing. In the desktop version (at least up to the version I'm using), you can't modify a VAT-reconciled transaction, but you can modify a bank-reconciled one - which can mess up your previous reconciliations.

The way to correct things, then, is to post a reversing transaction: If the ones you want to remove are receipts, post payments. If they are payments, post receipts.

(And if they are reconciled to the credit card statement, surely that reconciliation must be wrong if the transactions were duplicates? You might want to check further to see if you've made any compensating errors.)

Hi James - or is it Zak - your profile shows different name to your profile name.

Are you a bookkeeper or the business owner.

Sage one is naff! Unfortunately you cant do a restore!

How was it reconciled it some things have gone through twice?

Reversing and re-reconciling is the way to sort it as Vince suggests, make sure you include a narrative to show what you have done as in 6months time you wont remember. Ensure you post them exactly as you did the first time (ie the same VAT codes for any 'Bank payments') otherwise your VAT will be thrown out. Then once you are sure you have got back where you need to be, do a Bank rec for those dummy reversing transactions.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
