De-register For VAT
Permalink Closed

Hello cleaver and amazing bookkeepers,

The company should be no longer vat registered from February this year, but on HMRC gateway website it is still VAT registered.

Is that possible?

Or am I missing something?

Thanks

Diona

Thanks Joanne,

I think my main concern is:

Is it possible HMRC website to be not updated since February?

Many thanks

Diona

Your best bet is to call HMRC. Doing so will either; put your mind at rest, or show you it hasn't been completed properly. If in doubt, chase it about.

Thanks Johnny,

Completely agree with you.

It was the client that contacted HMRC and usually they are good in this, so I can't believe something went wrong.

There was a problem with HMRC website not updated for PAYE recently, so I thought this could be the reason.

But, probably something went wrong.

A phone call is the best and soon will know what has happen.

Thanks for you advise and reply.

It is appreciated.

Best

Diona

Thanks Joanne,

I'm just checking as the client was informed that the was is only ticking a box on the final VAT Return that the company is not longer VAT registered.

Is there option like this?

Thanks

Diona

Do you not process the vat returns for this client? How about others?

Yes, we do VAT Returns, but I am not aware of a box to be ticked for the company to be de-registered. Is there one?

I will look at the guide, but are you aware of this box to be ticked?

No.
The guide will tell you what you need to do, which is what I've listed above but in more detail.

If you login as if you were going to do a vat return, you will see no such box. Sounds like your client is getting confused, or it's wishful thinking
