Marriage Allowance Transfer

Good Morning,

We received a Self Assessment Tax Statement for a client this morning, and the amount demanded was not in accordance with our calculations.

I identified that he had not been credited with the Marriage Allowance transfer in accordance with his SA Return

I checked his wife's Return and the transfer is shown.

I spoke with the HMRC Agent Helpline this morning, extremely helpful.

They advised that this is a known problem that they are working on a fix at the moment, but date of corrections not known.

They will be issuing revised Tax Calculations and Statements in due course.

Best wishes

Jay

Hi,
I have a client who's wife applied for the allowance and was successful however it is not showing the allowance on his tax return.
Please advise
Thanks

Hi

The HMRC system for self assessment and paye are currently not working successfully together so the Marriage allowance does not show on the tax return.

They are aware of the problem so you need to submit the Tax Return and then it should hopefully be corrected when received.

Hope this helps

Good Morning.

Hopefully the error regarding the Marriage Allowance Transfer has been resolved.

This morning I received a Tax Calculation from HMRC for one of our clients affected by this and the final line states :

"Marriage Allowance has been transferred in line with your application."

I know this is an old post but it appears still to be an issue.

I've just done an online self assessment and the calculation isn't correct due to the marriage allowance.

Is anyone aware if HMRC are now issuing these calculations correctly when they come out to the client please ?

Thanks

Valerie
