Just had a bit of a panic, my client who has just set up a ltd co has received this letter (attached) in the post! asking for £190, I don't really understand what it is about and if it's necessary?
has anybody seen a letter like this before or know what this company is?
Thanks
Rachel
Looks like it's just advertising, the pay £190.00 now is a bit misleading!

Hi Rachel
Nothing attached, but just had a look at their website, has a UK address but it's a Polish company. It's just junk mail, just tell them to bin it.

Hi Rachel
Its a public register of all companies who send £190 to these con artists. The correct public register can be found at https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/ and your client can be found on there.
It's made to look like it's something that has to be paid for, as indeed your client thought so, but it's about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Glad you were savvy enough to look further into it

Hi Joanne
To be fair, with yell . con you know you're paying for advertising, even if you don't get any sales This epub outfit remind me of the old European directory where they sent you an invoice of several hundred pounds, usually by fax.

"It's made to look like it's something that has to be paid for"
Quite. You get a similar con when you register trademarks - faux-invoices which are designed to look like invoices (for registering the trademark in an official-sounding European trademark registry, but which isn't) and which state somewhere that it's definitely not an invoice, oh no, and it's really just an offer. I have a few such faux-invoices.
You'll also sometimes see similar things with domain names and such like - especially as renewal time approaches, and the con artists hope you'll pay them because you know it's due, and think they're the actual registrar.
Flying visit - spotted this thread in my feed and it looked interesting. Now I'll shut up again for a while - still very busy! :)

One of my clients had a similar letter from a company called companies register when he incorporated. It made out that he had register with them and pay a similar amount . Fortunately he phoned me about it before parting with his money
I get regular phone calls from "company house" who want to check my company listing with them!!! I keep telling them to go away and stop ringing, but they just don't give up.
