does anyone on here deal with restaurants. I had a query from a friend saying he is being charged £40 a month for his uniform to be cleaned. it's not branded so he cannot claim tax back for it.
OMG - the robbing buggers. So they make him work 18 hours a day and still charge him for cleaning his whites!!!!!!!!!! Of course its not a uniform - chefs wear their whites outside of work - when they go shopping/socialising with their pals - oh wait, no they dont get to do stuff like that do they cos when they arent working they are sleeping (but yes usually in their whites, where they have fallen on the store-room floor) OK - a head chef doesnt always work those hours but they will also be charging the staff who work for him and making them work 18 hour days and paying them a bloody pittance to do so! Longer hours if its Michelin level. Anyway - my rant (not at you obviously Elaine, but at the industry who dont get a damn about their staff) is over ( for this forum, for now)
