WANTED: Payroll Management Diploma course books

Is anybody selling the Payroll Management Diploma books?

I did the course with training link years ago but didn't keep the books. Could do with refreshing on how to do everything without having to pay out around £400 with training link to do it again.

I'll pay good money for them especially if they are recent.

Thanks

Hi Rachel,

You say years ago. If before RTI then isn't a large chunk of the course now defunct?

As with Tax, Payroll is one of those area's where old books simply become shelf fillers. I believe that redoing an updated course or at least finding a good text on Payroll (CIPP must do one!) may be much more beneficial to you than referring old texts.

HTH,

Shaun.

Sorry Shaun
Edited out, as whilst I dont think what I proposed would be an issue for Rachel, I dont want to encourage other who have had no experience whatsoever down that route! Perhaps you can do your magic.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

Hi Rachel, I'm selling the Sage 50 payroll self study stages 1 and 2 (2014) on eBay if these would help?

Cheers Phil

Hi Rachel, would this help at all?

https://www.onlineacademies.co.uk/details/476/introduction-to-payroll-systems-diploma

Groupon are currently offering it for £19

https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/online-academies-986

I doubt it's worth anywhere near 200 smackeroos, but as a refresher course it may be worth a look?

I have no connection with either groupon or online academies, and the links are not affilliated

Thanks Shaun and Joanne, I was hoping for the post to be found by someone who has just done the payroll management course with recent books that wanted to make some money back from them so it wouldn't be too out of date.

Thanks Phil, I'm trying to remeber when RTI came in, is it covered in your books?

JOHN...this link is really helpful THANK YOU. I haven't read through it properly get but looks great (maybe to good to be true)

I've got a couple of new payroll clients now so I'll be reading up about pensions again.

One of the new clients - I don't start until September so I have enough time to work out everything I'm going to be dealing with. This one has employees that use childcare vouhers...I've done a bit of this around 5 years ago and I don't think I'd remember how to process it now, do you know of anywhere I can look this up? my google searches haven't found anything...I may be looking for the wrong thing though.

Thanks again for your help

P.S. John - I missed that pensions seminar, I was so dissapointed I couldn't watch it. My daughters nursery is closed for 2 weeks so I've not been able to work during the day time as usual.

Hi Rachel

Gosh, I haven't done Childcare vouchers since 2008!  As far as I can ascertain £55 a week/£243 a month is tax free and anything above that is taxable, assuming basic rate taxpayer.

What payroll software will you be using? Moneysoft have a separate Childcare by employee tab under deductions.

Yes, that course may only cover the basics as it's quite cheap, but for sake of £20 probably worth it imo.

And no, you haven't missed the pensions webinar because it's on the 24th!! Even if you do miss it you can download it afterwards.

Hi John

I have moneysoft payroll manager which I already use for 2 other clients, glad I've got some more payroll work - I don't particularity like but as I only do 2 business's the software isn't costing much less than what I charge. I really like moneysoft, I've tried a few different ones - Sage, QUickbooks and 12 pay and I think moneysoft is the best by far.

You're right I think I'll go for the £20.00 course anyway, I'll have to read up about the rest (pensions, childcare vouchers etc)

Brilliant that I haven't missed the seminar, luckily I do have childcare this Wednesday! I'm really looking forward to it.

Thanks again
Rachel
