Doing the books for a Ltd Co, who engage a self employed haulage driver on an as and when needed basis. There's a few overnight trips and the Company has paid the hotel bills, but also the drivers subsistence costs, not over extravagant
I'm assuming that the hotel bills are fine but unsure about the meal costs, should these have been bourne by the driver, and the cost added to the drivers invoice?

Hi John
There I was thinking most drivers slept in their cabs! Initial thoughts are that if the Ltd pays both then surely they are actually leaning towards giving HMRC proof that he is being employed rather than self employed even if its for short periods of time. Does the s/e driver hold his own haulage licence and operate his own haulage business?
Are they collecting expenses receipts or going off the HMRC guidance rate?
