Wow!  11000 posts from Shaun.

Yes as moderator, you may expect him to have more posts than the rest of us, but remember he wasn't always a moderator on this site, he didn't start out that way, he started in the same way the rest of us did, to learn more and provide help when he could. Remember too that he doesn't get paid for doing the moderator job, just does it for the love of us.  wink

Despite not being paid, and despite getting very busy as many members have, he hasn't disappeared but remains a regular contributor, for which I for one am very gratefuL as I've learned a lot since I started out on here as I'm sure many of you have.

Also remember that some of those 11000 posts were about cake, cake and more cake, but despite the silliness, that's an amazing achievement and actually without the giddiness the site wouldn't be what it is. Nor would it be without Shaun and the rest of you.

So, I just want to say thank you for the 11000, here's to the next 11000.

Ahhh, cheers Joanne. I'm genuinely touched. I'd not even noticed the arrival of this milestone.

Watching your escalating numbers I really don't think that by the time that you get close to seven years here you'll be too far off that number yourself.

lol, I'm sure that there are some organisations and a few transient members who wish that I had never found this site. But I like to think that my time here has helped to make a difference to the market as I note that debates that we have had here have changed professional bodies / organisations /  training companies for the better. Some of them still have a way to go but I intend to be around for a while yet so they can take a number and we'll get around to fixing them.

Just hope that the site always remains the completely independent voice for the lone bookkeeper, accountant or student of either path.

Thanks again,

Shaun.

And to say I got giddy when I hit 500 biggrin

But he needs to get to 144,000 before he becomes one of the chosen ones biggrin

Seriously Shaun, congratulations and a heartfelt thanks from me as well, your insight has taught me a thing or two over the last few years.

Speaking of cake, did you ever get any? I never but that's probably because you sabotaged the delivery van!!

Cheers matey,

actually, 500 did seem a real milestone. I remember that one myself and thinking wow, 500... A bit like my first PC with a 90mb hard drive (thats right MB!!!) and thinking wow, there is no way that I would ever be able to fill all of that space... How times change!

My quick calculation suggests that at current rate 144k posts would take me around 91 years so only another 84 to go to being the chosen one... Pretty sure that at current rates Joanne is going to beat me to that one.

And talking of Joanne...

wink

I agree with you guys about the 500 posts! Plus lol on the old PCs - talking of which mine has just taken about an hour to wind itself up (and only worked on the second attempt) so I can finish off something for a client at home - they and my old PC have a very very very very old version of sage on it. If I had failed it wouldve just meant a trip to the clients to do the work, but I was hoping to avoid that (phew it worked!!)

144k posts just means someone needs to get out more. Maybe they are in prison and so having nothing better to do! lol. What are you saying about me doing that many Shaun? I have a life, although you may not always think so, so me reaching 144k posts aint gonna happen. Note to self - stop at 143999! You trying to say a talk a lot? wink

Having your cake and eating hey Shaun....and licking up the crumbs!   The cowboy neckerchief doesnt look cool though ..... hungry.gif

No delivery vans will do the picks up to your neck of the woods any more John.....too many of their staff ending up in ditches, with the vans having half a side blown out!

heart.gif you boys!

Thanks Amanda.

Doesn't seem that long ago but thinking about it when I first joined I was actually still a PQ!

Yes, I remember it well that when I first started here some of the key contributors at the time were Yourself, Sheila and Bill (Wella). Pretty sure that Kris under his original userid has been around longer than me as well. Peasie I'm sure joined the site on pretty much the same day as me. There were already plenty of others but I'm reasonably sure that you are one of, if not, the last of the original contributors still on your original userid Amanda.

Quite possibly one of the last ones! I remember Sheila and Bill, god that seems a long time ago!

Not been on here for a while as really busy with work, hopefully will get back on her more in the future.

Shaun/Joanne

I hadn't actually noticed until today that I had gone over 1000, so 1300 in 18 months means its going to take me 12 and a half years to get to 11k. Hopefully by then I should be retired lol.

From memory, my first PC in 1995 was a SX433 40mb hard drive running Windows 3.11.  I then upgraded to a Pentium 90 with a 120mb hard drive.

Absolutely gutted about no cake Joanne, in hindsight I should have asked you to leave me some out behind your garden gate when I whizzed through your home town a couple of weeks ago. biggrin

Aaagh no, I did NOT mean to slur you as the stereotypical northerner. And yes Cheshire is posh, I forgot that.  As for the dressing gown you could always email me smile

And Jean Alexander, who played Hilda, had quite a refined voice, but for poshness no one beats the lady who plays Audrey.
