Payroll charges and AE
Permalink Closed

HI Everyone,

Hope you are all looking forward to some time off over Christmas!

I was wondering what people are charging nowadays for payroll and AE.

Nearly all my payroll clients are bookkeeping clients as well and I charge the payroll separately.  But I have got a few that are just payroll and basically want to make sure pricing is right.

Also do you charge for a set up cost with AE?  I have had to buy an additional licence which I factor in the cost, obviously the more I get on it over the next year the more cost effective it will be to me.

What are your thoughts please?....

Many thanks.

Hi Amanda

My prices will probably be low in your eyes due to geographical and demographic reasons. I cover South Yorkshire and the prices reflect that area.

I charge £150 for AE set up, ensuring the client meets all its AE obligations and setting them up with either nest or now pensions.  If they want to choose a different one its an extra £50.

Payroll is £3 per payslip with a minimum charge of £10 (Directors or employer not in AE scheme £1.50 per payslip (no minimum charge but if it was just a Director or two I'd include it in the monthly bookkeeping price)

Thanks John,

I am too cheap on AE set up, but saying that I have only done them partly as an IFA has been involved in all of mine, so I suppose I couldn't justify that amount.

I was £90 AE but that was liaising with IFA and also taken into account the extra license on the payroll software that I have had to purchase, and the fact it takes time to set it up on the payroll software especially when half the staff decide not to go on it!

I was more expensive on payslip but again that is due to location.

Many thanks for your input, if I'm not on here again before Christmas, has a great time and enjoy the time off!!

Regards,

Hi Guys
Only one of mine has staged so far and they used their Accountant to do the payroll before I took them on so its been left that way (even though I was offered the work, I declined as had no capacity) - reckon I might be in for a fun year!!!! Got to decide yet how much Im going to charge. For the few small payrolls I do - its £12 min for ones where there are likely to be no changes, such as Directors. One on a lower rate, sort of a loss leader to get more business (although I dont make a loss on it). More if they have constant turnover and weekly paid.
