Pension Declaration of Compliance help-please
Permalink Closed

Hi I am filling out my first declaration of compliance and on the staff details, section 6 question 3, it asks-on the staging date how many staff were already members of a pension scheme-does this mean, how many staff were paying into a private pension and enrolled onto the company pension or how many staff were paying into their own pension so therefore didn't enroll on the company scheme? I hope that makes sense.

Many thanks for reading my jumbled question

Nicola

Hi Nicola
As with some of their instructions they are suitably vague. www.thepensionsregulator.gov.uk/docs/automatic-enrolment-online-registration-checklist.pdf

My reading is only for schemes you have already set up for them (company scheme), but I could be wrong. Worth a quick email to them perhaps customersupport@autoenrol.tpr.gov.uk

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

Hi Joanne,
I didn't see that before but yes I agree with you, it does read like that. I have just dropped them an email anyway.

Thank-you very much for your help.
Nicola

Our pension company told me to fill in 0 for this question as although we had a previous company pension it was not an AE compliant one.

Hi Joanne,

I finally received my reply from the auto enrolment.

"Thank you for your email dated the 17 February 2017.

When completing the declaration, employers should only include the employees in the field on the staging date how many staff were already members of a pension scheme if they were members of qualifying pension scheme (i.e. private pension) prior to staging date and not enrolled into the automatic enrolment scheme.

If you have any further questions, please see our website. "

Many thanks

Nicola
