answers expressed in pound and pence
Permalink Closed

Hi

Green answers are correct whereas red ones are incorrect. At the beginning of the exercise I am told that answers should be expressed in pounds and pence. When I calculated price per each item and net amount I was allowed to put double zero after fullstop. Why I am not allowed to put fullstop and double zero when I calculate vat amount and total amount ? Please guys, tell me , it is important cause if I don't know this I may lose easy points during exam.

There is a chance that I used commas while inserting figures in fields but I doubt it. If we assume that I used fullstops why those answers are incorrect ?

I enclosed answers and it makes me wonder why there are  fullstops only with price per unit and with net amount ?

I did test on Kaplan website so maybe they have special rules related to how figures should be inserted in fields ?

To me that looks like a system problem rather than a wrong answer. Have you tried the practice exam on the AAT website? It normally clearly states if it should be in penny/whole pounds.

Thanks Lyndsey

Hi Rafal
Totally agree with Lundsey that this is a system issue rather than anything else. Doesnt fill you with confidence Im sure (especially when you have had such problems with the wrong answers in study material before!)

If this happens in the exam, which Im sure it wont, but on the small off chance that it does - make sure you speak to the invilgilator as soon as possible (and also the centre manager before you leave the building after the exam!)

Funny - but I thought it was the AAT that you were on, but I can see now its kaplan.

thanks guys for replies. It helped a lot. I did tests on aat website and everything was ok. Since I bought books from kaplan there are tests available on their website if you buy their books. Well, on kaplan website everything is weirder.

I am currently going through the AAT. I'm sure my tutor said that in the AAT exam there are sometimes a few variable answers which will get the mark. The only problem is when they specify rounding/nearest pound ie with VAT return form. But they are quite clear in what you need to answer in the exam.

Good luck in your exam

IIRC on the front of the exam paper, (screen) it will tell you, if you read it, whether or not to round figures.

It's as simple as reading what is required.
