Sage Software

I am looking at our purchasing sage accounts and am unsure whether to pay for the monthly subscription with sage or just purchase the disc to install to desktop. If I were to purchase a disc would it be absolutely necessary to update the version each year.

Hi,

Is the software for one business, or is it for the accumulated total of your clients?

If it is for one business you'd be [in my opinion] better buying one licence for bookkeeping and accounts.

For more than one business unless you can get hold of a copy which is a few years old I'd suggest paying monthly. To buy a copy of Sage, for multiple businesses you are talking serious money - and I mean serious.

If you have a look around online for perpetual licences for Sage you'll see my point.

HTH.

Hiya I only need it for one client. I was going to go for the monthly subscription for the cloud based version but after reading a few posts on here I am thinking dont do it. From what I have read sage cloud is very slow. Looking on Currys you can buy Sage 50 accounts essential for £80.00

Sage cloudy is slow when there is volume.

But even if there is not much volume, why oh why would you pay £20pm when you can have a perpetual licence for £80!

Plus - surely the client would be paying for this? Just a thought

Hi Joanna I wasn't planning on getting the client to pay for the software. With the perpetual license I don't think you get any software support do you? Where do users obtain support on sage related matters when needed.

You only get full sage support if you pay for it when you register the software.

Support available for free on the sage website, lots of articles.

Plus users who come on here get loads of support via other users on here.

Plus don't forget the software itself has help files, demo data plus a practice data area.

Why are you not getting the customer to pay for the software if you are buying a one client sage package and it's for their business? If it was multi company/multi user I would understand it a bit more, although even then if you are needing the type of sage (eg all bells and whistles) to support their business you can still pass on a licence fee. Up to you obviously, but why give away your margin?!

In all honesty I forgot to mention about them purchasing the software and I dont really want to go back to them to after I have agreed my pricing. It wont look good me now asking them to purchase the software. I have found the license on Amazon slightly cheaper. It does say you get support for the first year so i might buy then see how I get on.

For one individual the licence is the better, cheaper option in the long run.

I would like to ask you for help guys. Can you tell me how sage online subscriptions work ? I don't need sage for work purposes . I don't work in accountancy. I would like to practise entering data into sage and develop my computer keyboard skills in relation to sage. I bought trial version of sage before but now it expired so I need practise tool again. I am taking computerised accounting exam soon and need to develop speed. I don't want to save my work. I want to enter scenario and don't need to save it . I want to create fictional company, enter fictional customers and suppliers, enter invoices, do payments and receipts , do bank reconciliation and print reports. I want to create one or two backup files so that I can restore them anytime I want to enter new scenario. Do you think buying online subscription can serve my purpose ? Can you practise entering data when you buy sage subscription ?

Rafapak, are you studying at a college? If you are , they can order Student Packs as part of their Educational Licence package. The pack only lasts for 180 days and is £60+VAT . There is no minimum order .
