Just wondered how you all took it when you dropped marks in your exams. I have got good percentages so far but am really annoyed at myself for dropping silly marks, and it annoys me I cant go back and see the exam to see where I went wrong.
I don't think I have ever walked out of an exam and not had that feeling that I had made some silly mistakes, but I was always happy in the fact that it was on questions that I did know the answers to but had messed up probably because of exam pressure or later in my studies timing pressure, I think I would have been more upset if I could not answer a question due to lack of knowledge as this would have pointed to the fact that I was not prepared to take the exam either through not learning the module properly or poor revision.
I also believe that you do learn from these mistakes or I certainly did because as soon as the exam was over I would go back over the course books to see where I had gone wrong on the questions I thought I had messed up.
I also believe that it is human nature that we only seem to dwell on the parts of the exam that we did badly and seem to forget all about the good answers that we gave.
As far as going back over your answers with AAT exams I am not sure if it is the same now but when I was sitting them they only had 2 question banks so if you failed the exam more than once you would come up against the same questions again so obviously the answers are not available.
HTH and good luck

Hi Lee
Would suggest that most on here who have their AAT will have taken it in the days when you just got a 'competent' or a 'fail', with no percentages. I found that ultra annoying. So if you got exceeded on everything, ie 100%, you still were badged as 'competent'.....annoying to say the least.
Do you still get the bit of paper at the end of the computer marked exams stating if you met, under performed , exceeded etc each section of the exam? If you do that at least will help you understand what section of the paper you did less well in.
You can of course re-sit to get higher marks, but that would work out very expensive. Worth considering maybe if you scrape a pass (just for your own benefit as let's face it a pass is a pass!), but if you're getting good marks, try to see the positive and go celebrate.

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
I got all exceeded apart from 4 sections, 2 of these I could only achieve met. So I made mistakes on 2 sections. Just annoyed as they were sections I exceeded in the mock. I achieved 95% so am really pleased, just frustrated. Guess its a good thing.
If this is AAT I did read somewhere that some sections you can only get a met as there is not enough marks available in that section. It was something like if there is less than 10 marks available you can only get a met.
I do wish we could see the exams and answers afterwards as I like to know if I have got something wrong as at the end of the day, this is our job, we need to know everything and not make errors in our clients accounts.
