I have been playing around with VT+ as well as VT Accounts suite using their free trials over the past few weeks and I have been more than happy with what they produce.
However now that the trial periods are about to expire I need to make a choice on how to proceed, I do not really need Accounts Suite for work at the moment (but hoping to in the future)I am now just trying to justify paying out for that instead of just getting the VT+, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I was to subscribe to the Accounts Suite for the year and subsequently decided that I no longer wanted it after the year end would I still have access to VT+ which is included in the package or would I need to subscribe to this again as a new outright purchase.
Cheers

Hi Doug
As far as I know, someone else can confirm, I'd you decide you don't want Accounts then you still have VT+
But don't go the whole hog now if you don't need it now. Get Accounts if and when you need it- spreads the cost!

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.
You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
Could I just add a word of caution to this thread to say that just because VT has not pulled the plug in the past when a subscription has expired does not mean that they will keep the same business model in the future.
I would not make long term plans based on the charitable position of software companies to allow the continued full use of their products post licence period, but rather look upon the very reasonable annual subscription as maintaining the ability of companies such as VT to provide quality products that challenge the Titans of the SME accounts software industry such as Sage and Intuit.

Thanks for that, decided I am just going to get VT+ as an outright purchase for now and see what happens when MTD comes into play as it seems from what I can gather that even if you have VT+ outright you will still need to buy the support subscription annually to enable you to submit quarterly to HMRC so might be more beneficial to go for the Accounts suite package then. Please correct me if this is not the case.

Good point Shaun. As I've had it since 2012/3 without having to renew a subscription, apart from the one year I had VT Accounts, then that never entered into my head.
Yes, I believe that there will be an annual charge for VT+ if you want to submit quarterly figures, which is fair enough. It's still better than having to use a cloud package
