shorten the financial year in Sage 50 accounts
Permalink Closed

Hello, I was wondering if you could help me out please. I need to shorten the financial year in Sage 50 accounts, but don't exactly know how to do it....as far as I understood Sage's online help I would need to change the start date as it always has to be 12 months.

SO the year started on 01/09/2016 and as per Sage now it ends on 31/08/2017, however it tuned out that a shortening of the corporation tax period was requested and it should run up to 06/04/2017 (probably someone wanted to align it with the tax year due to some reason). I have no idea how to sort this out in Sage. Not only I have to move the financial year to start on 01/04/2016 (???) so it would end on 31/03/2017, but also add 6 days of April 2017 ???? when Sage always start the year as the first day of the month and ends it as the last day of the month.

Please can someone shed some light?

Thank you

Ellie

Hi Ellie,

On the 6th April point, it is acceptable to use 31st March as a proxy for 6th April. I know of no companies who actually use 6th April and many that use 31st March.

I have never actually done what sage help is referring to so I'll leave it to others here who may have practical experience of doing this to answer the other part.

Regards,

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position
