Hi,

I have been "lurking" for a while now and have decided it would only be polite to introduce myself.  I am AATQB, recently qualified although I have been working as a bookkeeper for quite a few years.  I am currently working for an Accountant, who would like me to go on to do CIMA but I am not sure at the moment.

Welcome Riel. Well done on your recent achievement - must feel great to get the letters even though you been doing the role for a while.

Has the Accountant given any reasons why CIMA as opposed to ACCA? What are your thoughts on finishing the AAT? I suggest this as that might well help you decide as there are elements of both in the final level and that might help you decide one way or another. Its certainly good to hear that you are being encouraged and supported by your boss.

Where abouts are you based? (always have to keep one eye on any potential competition!!)

Thoughts are my own/not to be regarded as official advice, which should be sought from a suitably qualified Accountant.

You should check out answers with reference to the legal position

Hi Joanne,

thank you yes the letters though small do feel good. The accountant suggested CIMA as that is what he has so probably just familiar with it. As to the AAT I think I have just had enough of studying for the present. I am based in West Yorkshire so you are safe :).
