Company ceased trading but still want to keep it, What is it's status?

I have a Ltd Co that I'm about to cease trading on as it hasn't been successful. (It isn't my bookkeeping one) I don't want to get rid of the company at present as I have possible future plans for it, but what is the status?  I know it's not dormant and accounts would still need to be filed with Co House and HMRC, but there's a name that you call such a company but I can't for the life of me remember it.

Dormant company I think you are looking for.

There is a proforma on the Companies house site, which you can file in online, its a 5 min job to file accounts like that.

No, it isn't classed as a dormant company, and you can't file dormant accounts at CH for it.  

Having said that, it's a doddle to file, although i would submit through Taxfiler, rather than direct with CH.

As it was I carried on trading with it, albeit on a very small scale.
