Eeeek. I've been doing tax returns for years and put no when it says do you have a tax adviser. Just submitted a return for a subby and elected my business as the nominee for the very first time. It then asked if the nominee was the tax adviser and I'm thiking that if I put no they will think it's a 3rd party. A quick search on google took me to an aweb answers page and under HMRC, you are the tax adviser if you are the agent filling in the tax return on behalf of a client.
I was under the (obviously false) impression that a tax adviser was someone who did tax planning, especially when the next question is are you party to a tax avoidance scheme?
Now I feel stupid.

Hi John
Does this mean you have been filing incorrect returns over all these years and you now have to go back and amend them?? Only kidding!!!
I always fill in the section of the return where it asks if you have a tax advisor with my details whether the client is due a rebate or not

PS. Is it Christmas already? Love the two avatars from yourself and Doug. I will look for something Christmassy too but I tend not to start Christmas until two weeks before the date. BUUUT I'm hearing Christmas songs on the radio and decorations in the street do maybe I shouldn't be such a luddite. However a couple of my friends were wanting to put their trees up in the middle of December, which is a definite
