Why?

Why are you asking for such nonesense when you clearly work for a firm of Accountants?

You like wasting people's time?

Looks to me like you are just link building!!

Which makes this spam!!!!!!

Not sure why the MARKETING Director would need to know that answer so would agree with Joanne as to the reasons.

The VAT thing is VIES - "VAT Information Exchange System" - while VEIS is "Very Easily Identified Spam."

Edit: Typed the second one as VIES, because I'm used to typing that. :)

I've removed my reply, just thought it would be useful to others.

Well there's still something useful here - the expansion of VEIS. Now when a post appears that we aren't sure of, without actually calling it spam, we can ask "Does anyone know if this is an example of VEIS?" or something to that effect.

LOL Vince - or a one word reply VEIS to the OP's question.  Now that would have confused the hell out of him!

Only if he came back on but like a typical spammer, he hasnt. Might yet, but still a daft question given where he works.

Ive edited out mine as well

Maybe if Shaun removes the post and link or whatever we can start a new post and add the useful info.

"or a one word reply VEIS to the OP's question."

Heh! That'll work perfectly where it definitely IS a very easily identified spam - and would be as funny as when the spam is posted as a faux question.

I vote this the dumbest post of the week, although in fairness there have been a few this week.

It's certainly wins in the category of most pointless post.

I deleted the link in the posters profile (actually did that yesterday). Unfortunately though you all seem to have had fun with this one so adverse to deleting it or even banning the poster as always need to give people a chance to defend themselves. I can move it all except the original question to a new thread but as the links gone probably little point in tthat now.

As for dumbest post of the week... We seem to be picking up quite a lot of business owners who don't want to pay for an accountant. We also seem to have a lot of newbies who make one post and are then never heard from again which I know myself from past experience can be frustrating when one has taken the time to construct a well considered response... When you are hit with that just consider it from the perspective of all the people who need to know who didn't ask the question.

All in all, a funny old week with cheeky posts, dumb posts, thinly disguised marketing and one poster that seemed oblivious to the fact that she was acting illegally. But amongst them, as always, there are serious posts where you guys and gals never fail to do an amazing job of helping out your fellow professionals despite working with matchsticks keeping your eye's open due to the increasing demand for our services.

Big well done to all of you for sticking with it despite the dumb, the arrogant, the ungrateful, the invisible and at times the plain offensive responses that you get for your efforts.

That's ok, we know you cannot respond, as you cannot justify your actions in the first instance, and we don't wish to respond to:-

- lazy marketing managers of accountancy firms who just want to use this site for their link building.

- someone too lazy to stick their heads round their colleagues door and ask them for the answer.
