As many of us use taxfiler, which doesn't yet have an option to prefill data from HMRC, I thought it worth giving an heads up to a free Sage service that can obtain the data from HMRC to include in clients self assessments.
I've just tried it and it works a treat, as I needed some extra info on a couple of clients.
Sign up to Sage Partner Edition for free and log in once done www.sage.com accountants then click on the partnership edition.
Then launch the self assessment viewer. https://get.sage.com/ACS_18Q1_C4L_GBIE_DGNL_NPS_SelfAssessment You will need your gateway login details and may need to download a HMRC app (I already had one) as it will need to verify you.
Enter the UTR no and the year and wollar, details are there.
One of the things I needed was a state pension. My client's figures disagreed with mine by £3. When I checked it gave me the other pension details (which I already had) but not the state pension - ah well. Will have to ask him how he got his figure.
The other client, employment data as he didn't know it, worked a treat.
EDIT: Link corrected

Still in the process of moving all my clients over onto Taxfiler more gearing up for 2018/2019 the ones I did do this year were all pretty straight forward.
I will give it a try out tomorrow, is it completely free or is it just a free trial period?

Completely free as far as I know, although no doubt Sage will use the opportunity to push Sage One at us. TBH I can live with that for the free tool but in February I'm going to look at Sage Partner in more detail anyway, as it could be quite useful for keeping on top of client deadlines. Only glanced at it today when setting it up.
I've transferred a few to Taxfiler this month, and hopefully I'll have everyone on it for 2017/18

Had a little play and from the couple of clients I input all the information I got back was correct so cheers for this, will come in very handy.
When you signed in to HMRC did you have to receive an access code and then input all your personal details including passport? I tried signing in twice and had to go through this on both occasions just wondered if this is going to be the case every time
Cheers
